Coach Jo Kay

At 42, I bring over two decades of experience, insight, and lived expertise to my work as a personal trainer.

Certified since 2005 through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), my foundation in movement began early as a state-level gymnast, and evolved through years of swimming, rock climbing, and cycling.

My journey, however, has been shaped as much by challenge as by discipline. From herniated discs in both my cervical and lumbar spine, to navigating postnatal diastasis recti and later experiencing incontinence in my late 30s, I have personally worked through many of the complex physical transitions women face.

This depth of experience informs a more considered approach to training. I spent over a decade immersed in yoga (CYT200 certified), refining body awareness and control, before transitioning into strength training—where I discovered its transformative ability to restore, support, and future-proof the body.

Beyond fitness, I am a holistic health practitioner and formulator. This multidisciplinary background allows me to view women’s health through a more sophisticated lens—where movement, recovery, and overall wellbeing are seamlessly integrated.

Now in my 40s, as I navigate perimenopause, my philosophy is clearer than ever: strength is not optional—it is foundational. Functional strength training plays a critical role in supporting hormonal balance, preserving bone density, and protecting against age-related muscle loss.

Personal training, for me, is a passion-led practice. I work with women—particularly in midlife—who are ready to invest in their strength, their longevity, and their quality of life. My approach is intelligent, deeply personalized, and grounded in both science and lived experience.
